great article Fish! I have one son who is 6 now, and I can relate a bit. I remember trying to time a session with naptimes which usually got me a free pass for an hour or two. As Liam (my son) gets older, it's getting easier to bring him and wife along - I guess the high-maintenance factor starts to come down. With the wife you have to build up 'credit' - then spend it as time on the water. The last few years I've been vacationning in Hatteras in July with satisfying results. The weather is great, the wind is actually not bad, the days are long and the water is warm. The only downside is the high-season prices. Bringing 'grandma' or 'grandpie' along is also highly recommended.
